RIE Consultants is a water resources engineering firm focusing on hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality of natural and build environments. We provide H&H engineering and modeling services in support of design and upgrade of water, wastewater, stormwater, hydropower, flood protection, and fish passage facilities, such as pump intakes, pipelines, treatment plants, outfalls, bank protection, levees, culverts, bridges, and habitat and stream restoration. RIE has an immediate opening for an early to mid-career water resource engineer to work on stream restoration, fish passage facilities design, hydrology, numerical modeling, CSO and storm water modeling, and hydraulic design projects.

This position is based in Redmond, WA and can work in person, hybrid, or remotely depending on the level of experience and preference of the candidate.
The selected candidate will be responsible for performing advanced hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, developing numerical models, and designing infrastructure solutions for flood protection and stormwater management. Daily tasks involve a mix of technical modeling, detailed design work, data analysis, and field assessments.
We are seeking a highly motivated engineer with a strong educational background in civil engineering and specialized expertise in hydraulic modeling. The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency in industry-standard software with exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
BS or higher degree in civil and environmental engineering or a related field; a graduate degree is preferred.
Experience or training in hydrologic analysis, hydraulic design, modeling, sediment transport, geomorphology, and stream restoration.
Strong technical writing background with the ability to prepare detailed written reports and communicate effectively.
Self-motivated problem solver with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively on project teams.
Proficiency in 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D numerical models (HEC-RAS, AdH, SRH-2D, SWMM, HSPF, MIKE) for simulating flow and sediment.
Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling is considered a valuable asset, though not required.
Demonstrated proficiency in using standard GIS applications and CAD software programs.
A strong motivation to learn new tools and techniques to stay current with industry advancements.
